It’s clear that Indiana has a rich history and a deep-rooted passion for automobiles that sets it apart as a unique and significant player in the automotive industry. Its contributions to automotive innovation and manufacturing have been substantial, with iconic brands like Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg, and Stutz leaving a lasting legacy. It can boast being the birthplace of the first commercially successful gasoline powered automobile in the US, the first electric hybrid and fully electric automobiles, as well as the location of the first gas pumps. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the largest testing grounds for automobiles and stands as a testament to Indiana’s automotive heritage. With a history that includes over 200 automobile manufacturers at one point, and ranks 3rd in the nation in automobile production presently, Indiana has played a pivotal role in shaping the automotive landscape in the United States.
Cruise Indy not only celebrates Indiana’s automotive legacy but also provides a platform to support causes like Folds of Honor, uniting the community around a shared love for cars and a commitment to giving back.
Cars are meant to move and be heard! Cruise Indy is not just a car showcase but a dynamic and engaging experience that brings together collectors, car clubs, motorcycle enthusiasts, and the public in a festive setting. The inclusion of music, food, and entertainment adds to the vibrancy of the event, creating a lively atmosphere for all participants and attendees.
The opportunity for the public to actively participate in the cruise between four locations truly sets this event apart. The motto of “If you think your jalopy is cool, then let’s see it run!” encourages everyone to showcase their vehicles in motion, adding an interactive and engaging element that promotes community involvement and a deeper connection with the event.
Importantly, by combining the celebration of vehicles with a charitable cause, Cruise Indy adds a meaningful dimension to the gathering. Cruise Indy’s primary purpose is to provide a platform for individuals to express their creativity, share their interests, fostering camaraderie and contribute to something larger than themselves. It’s truly inspiring to see how this event brings people together for a common purpose while enjoying their love for cars.
Nowadays, we the people seem desperate for common ground, searching for evidence that our name, the United States, still holds true. The answer comes when we see a soldier in uniform, a first responder risking their life to protect others. More than any topic, Americans agree on this: those who protect our freedom and our families deserve our unwavering support.
“Folds of Honor” honors the sacrifice and educates the legacy of US soldiers and first responders who are disabled or killed in the line of duty by providing their spouse and children life-changing scholarships. The recipients are as diverse as the country we call home, their common bond is sacrifice.
