For many years, Indiana was the center of the automobile industry. Luxurious automobiles made in Indiana included the well-known Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg and Stutz. At one time there were more than 200 automobile manufacturers in Indiana – more than any other state! Moreover, the first electric hybrid and fully electric automobiles, the first gas pumps, and the largest testing grounds for automobiles – now famously known as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway – were all born in Indiana! Given Indiana’s deep history and unparalleled passion for automobiles, Cruise Indy was a natural choice for a unique fundraiser.
We are all familiar with the typical car shows of parked classic, antique and modern cars, or the occasional collectibles driving by in Fourth of July parades, but this event is different. This event allows collectors to not only show their vehicle in a festive setting complete with music, food, silent auction and entertainment, but the day will also culminate with the opportunity to enjoy a 12-mile open cruise between Carmel and Indianapolis (participants receive a collectors medallion) all while raising money to benefit a worthy charity.
